8vo - 23 x 15 cm.; 397 pp. Faux leather cloth (a mottled red and dark brown) over boards with gilt lettering on spine. Oft times called the Minister of Everything, C. D. Howe served for over 25 years in federal politics and brought Canada into and onto the world stage in the post war period of the 1950's. Illustrated with eight pages of black and white photographs. Minor shelf wear on boards, previous owner's inscription on front free endpaper, otherwise, a clean, sturdy copy. Perhaps Howe is most remembered for his quick reply to a question in the House of Commons about his financial 'estimates' with regards post war reconstruction: "What's a million?". He never meant that remark as a question nor was it taken as one.
