8vo - 22.5 x 15 cm.; 200 pp. In 1926, six sisters of the newly founded Irish order arrived in China beginning the establishing of schools and hospitals in Hanyang, Nancheng and Shanghai. The order was expelled by the Communist government in 1951. Illustrated with a map on page 8 and a centre section of 16 pages of black and white photographs. The library markings, none of which are external, are a stamp on the title page and a pocket on the inside of the back cover. Previous owner's name and gift note on the first (half title) page. Otherwise the book is clean with a sound binding and having mild shelf wear to the covers.
