12mo - 19 x 13 cm.; 206 - (2) pp. The original soft cover edition has been rebound in a half-bound style with tan leather on the spine and fore corners and a textured paper on the boards. Gilt lettering on a 5 panel spine. The paper has a faux "alligator-leather" look to it and was originally green (the back is still mostly green) while the front has faded to a tan colour. Signed and dated with an inscription by the author on the front free end paper. Archival tape or paper has been added to both the front and back end paper gutters and appears to have been part of the rebinding process. Illustration XVI (La signature ordinaire de Christophe Colomb) which is on page 200 is not present though the page is. Why? Don't know. All other ullustrations are present and in a fine condition. The text block and original soft covers are clean. The new covers show mild rubbing to the edges and the back joint. All-in-all, a very handsome copy. A clear and removable archival cover has been fitted. ; Signed by Author
