8vo - 21 x 14 cm.; (30) - 399 pp. Light blue cloth over boards with black cloth and red gilt lettering on the spine. The text block head edge is stained a blueish-black as issued. Mapped end papers of the Canadian Arctic and illustrated with 16 pages of black and white photographs. Five page index at the back. From the dust jacket: "The adventurous life story of the famous Scotsman who dared the desolate wastes of Baffin Land and beyond, where no white man had ever been, to bring Christianity to the Eskimo." Previous owner's name on the front free end paper and the spine tips have mild wear, otherwise clean with a sound binding. The clipped dust jacket is quite worn on the spine tips and has a closed tear in the front at the spine fold.
