8vo - 20.5 x 13 cm.; x - 120 pp. Light gray/blue cloth over boards with dark blue lettering on the spine. First published in 1943, this is the third printing. Written during the Second World War and influenced by the temper of the times, these 'talks' were first given at Yale as the twentieth series of Dwight Harrington Terry Lectures and are presented in a slightly expanded form here. The three lectures are: "The Aim of Education", "The Dynamics of Education" and "The Trials of Present-Day Education". Two page index of proper names at the back. The book shows mild wear to the fore corners of the boards and the spine tips while the interior is clean and the binding is tight. The unclipped dust jacket is worn on the edges with chips, closed tears and creases and the spine is darkened.
