12mo - 18.5 x 12 cm.; vi - 128 pp. Green cloth over boards with gilt lettering on the spine and the front board. This is the fifth edition, revised and enlarged. Illustrated with 19 pages of black and white photographs one of which is the frontis piece and also by many small black and white drawings (quite nice ones too) used as insets or head and tail pieces. One appendix on "St. Augustine's Memorial Chapel". From the author's preface: "The object of this book is not only to give such information concerning the Order of the Holy Cross as its friends may desire, but also to present, in brief, the immemorial principles of the monastic life as exemplified in a practical manner in a Religious Community operating in the Anglican Church in the twentieth century. In other words, the intention has been to interpret the life of the cloister for our own time." The spine is quite faded and its gilt lettering is dulled and the end papers are tanned. Otherwise the interior is clean and the binding is tight. A clear and removable archival cover has been fitted.
