After being demobilized after World War II, the author, Irving, worked for the BBC, ran a small farm, and wrote novels. Red paper-covered boards with black spine lettering. Author's name "Irving" written in ink on the head and foot of the text block edges and a small inked notation on the front free endpaper; otherwise, a clean, tight volume. Dust jacket rubbed, lightly soiled, some edgewear and taped repairs neatly made on the verso side of the jacket.
