336 pp. Red cloth over boards with gilt lettering on the spine and the front board. An early fantasy novel set in Guernsey, one of the Channel Islands. Written by Gertrude M. Robins under the pseudonym of Mrs. Baillie Reynolds. First published in 1920 by Hodder Stoughton, then by Doran in 1925, this Burt edition, a reprint, has no date given but I believe it to be 1925 also. The spine lettering is faded while that on the front is still 'almost' bright. The externals show only mild wear to the board corners and spine tips and the spine is a tad darkened. The text pages show mild age toning to the margins, otherwise the interior is clean with a tight binding - unusual for a Burt edition from this time period. A clear and removable archival cover has been fitted.
