16mo - 17 x 10.5 cm.; vi - 44 pp. Green cloth with gilt lettering on the spine, blind stamped lettering and border rules on the front board. From the preface: "The Essex Hall Lecture was established with the object of providing an opportunity for the free utterance of the thoughts of a selected speaker on some religious theme of general interest". A list on pages 43/44 gives the preceding 22 lectures starting in 1895. Essex Hall in London, is the site of the headquarters since 1774 of the General Assembly of Unitarian and Free Christian Churches and has been the sponsor of this lecture series. Other than some light wear to the board corners and spine tips, the book is clean and tight - near fine.
