8vo - 21 x 17 cm.; 38 - (2) pp. Brown paper over boards with white linen on the spine, gilt lettering on the front board. Printed for private circulation by Oliver and Boyd of Edinburgh. A history of the one of the Scottish Congregational churches whose origin can be traced to the religious revival of the late eighteenth century. The church was founded by John Aikman who served as the first pastor. The white linen on the spine is darkened, the board edges show mild wear and the free end papers are tanned. Previous onwer's name in a calligraphic script on the front free end paper. otherwise the book is very clean with a tight binding. The gilt lettering on the front board is bright and sharp. A clear and removable archival cover has been fitted.
