8vo - 21 x 14 cm.; xviii - 420 pp. Translated from the German by Patrick Shaughnessy OSB and first published in English by Grail Publication s of St. Meinrad, Indiana as 5 separate booklets from 1946 to 1950. Tan Books republished these as one volume adding the subtitle, "A Fervent Exhortation . . .". Fr. Scheeben wrote the original in 1863 as a defense of Vatican Council I against the "Old Catholics". The five booklets were entitled "What Is Grace?", "Union with God", "How Grace Works", "The Effects of Grace", and "How to Grow in Grace" with these same titles being retained for the 5 parts of this edition. The top fore corner of the back cover has a small dog eared crease, otherwise the book appears to have never been used.
