8vo - 21 x 14 cm.; x - 198 pp. Dark burgundy cloth over boards with gilt lettering on spine and front and blind stamped ornamental borders on the head and tail margins of the front and back boards. Translated from the German "Leitfaden in der Rhythmik und Metrik der Classischen Sprachen" of 1869 by John Williams White. The front free end paper has been removed leaving a partial stub. The boards are mildly worn on the fore corners while the spine show significant wear to the tips and the spine itself is quite faded. The gilt lettering on the front is still bright. The paste down end papers show mild age-browning while the rest of thee text is very clean and the binding is sound and solid. A clear and removable archival cover has been fitted.
