Fleming (1792-1850) became vicar Apostolic of Newfoundland in 1830, a time when Irish Catholics were barely tolerated. He challenged the Establishment, journeyed around the island to minister to his scattered flock, erected the Basilica Cathedral, a "giant personality" of Newfoundland history. Signed with an inscription by the author on the half title page. Otherwise the book appears to have never been used.; Signed by Author
