Stated first printing on copyright page. Introduction by Harry Levin. Extensive footnotes and a comprehensive index. Black and white frontis photograph of Proust circa 1890. Signed with inscription in red by the translator as follows: "To Frannie - This time for the flowers - Love - Mina. May 17, 1949". The Frannie mentioned is Frances Rich, a well known sculptor from the mid-west and the daughter of Irene Rich. The interior is very clean while the externals show mild wear and scuffing with rubs on the spine top. The text block head edge was stained green as issued but now quite faded with fading to the green stain at the spine and soiling.; Signed by Translator
