8vo - 21 x 14 cm.; xii - 138 pp. Dark blue cloth over boards with gilt lettering on spine. This is the first translation into English of the original Latin texts with the translation by William J. Young SJ and published on the 400th anniversary of the death of St. Ignatius. Introduction by Raymond V. Schoder SJ. The original text by Luis Gonzalea de Camara covered the period 1521 to 1537, the surrender of Ignatius to the French at Pamplona and his later arrival in Rome. Ignatius dictated the account to Luis who then transcribed them at length adding to them, his own accurate recollections of the conversations. This intial section comprises the first 70 pages followed by translations of 11 of Ignatius' letters to various persons. Ten pages of notes based on the 'Monumenta Ignatiana; Fontes Narrativi" follow. The boards show mild shelf wear the head and tail ades of the boards while the interior is clean and the binding is solid. The dust jacket is moderately worn on all edges and folds with some chipping and the spine is faded.
