8vo - 23 x 15.5 cm.; 191 pp. Bright red cloth with gilt lettering on spine and front board. Royce writes from his and his parents own experiences on a farm in Eastern Ontario at McCrimmon West. The four essays are: 1 - "The Sense of Community", 2 - "The Round of the Year", 3 - "From Pioneer to Farmer: Honour and Reviling", 4 - "The Uses of Education: A thoroughly negative-minded report from the Late Twentieth Century", followed by a short section on further reading and some notes of the sources. The book appears to have never been used at all. About the title: other than it is a line from Moby Dick, the author does not say why he chose it.
