12mo - 19 x 13 cm.; - xi - - 317 - pp. Green linen over boards with gilt lettering on spine and blind stamped lettering on the front cover. The title page shows the correct 1922 date while the copyright page (with the Scribner's colophon) shows the incorrect (October) 1902 date. The eleven stories or tales are grouped into three themed sections by Fitzgerald: 1 - "My Last Flappers" with "The Jelly-Bean", "The Camel's Back", "May Day", "Porcelain and Pink", 2 - "Fantasies" with "The Diamond as Big as the Ritz", "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", Tarquin of Cheapside", "O Russet Witch", and lastly the third section "Unclassified Masterpieces" with "The Lees of Happiness", "Mr. Icky", and "Jemina". A previous owner's contemporary bookplate (a rather small plebian affair) is centered on the front paste down end paper. The fore edges of page vii/viii and page ix/x have been roughly opened with marginal tears, none greater than .5 cm. (The text block was trimmed on the head and tail edges while left untrimmed on the fore edge as issued.) The oft cited printing error on page 232 had been corrected for the Canadian edition. The book itself shows minor shelf wear to the externals with slightly bumped corners showing no wear while the spine ends have 'crumples' (they are not crisp) with mild wear. The text block edges are all darkened with the tanning or darkening present on page margins in varying degrees but really only the fore edge margins due to the untrimmed nature of these edges. The gilt lettering on the spine is still quite bright and the blind stamping on the front board is crisp and clean. The back board shows two small scuffs near the top. A clear and removable archival cover has been fitted. Overall, a quite nice copy with very good presentation.
