8vo - 21.5 x 14 cm.; vi - (3) - 95 pp. Orange wraps with black lettering in a saddle stapled binding. Illustrated with seven black and white drawings. First published in the July/August, 1945 issue of "Hospital Progress", the official journal of the Catholic Hospital Association. Jeanne Mance (1606-1673) came from the Champagne region of France and travelled to Quebec where she became involved with the founding of the medical mission in Montreal, the beginnings of Hotel Dieu. The covers show some very slight soiling and edge wear, else near fine.
