A children's story of a young Polish boy from the village of Piaski Male along the Wisla River who plays the violin and eventually emigrates to the U. S. Lovely illustrations in black and white by Zhenya Gay. First published in June of 1942, this is the second printing from August of 1944. The cover show mild soiling / spotting and like shelf wear to the edges. Previous owner's generic bookplate ("My Book") on the first blank preliminary page. The interior is clean and the binding is solid. A clear and removable archival cover has been fitted.
