The text block is very clean and tight with some minor damage to the preliminaries and the blanks in the back of the book, mostly in the gutter area. In the preface the author comments on the amount of material available documenting the Trappists and the history of La Trappe. In this work, the attempt is made to synthesize the material with emphasis on the spirit of the order.
