Denied entry, they were forced to return to Calcutta and in the ensuing melee of disembarkation, several were shot and killed. Well researched and documented. This is a complimenta ry review copy from Oxford with the publisher's slip tipped in on recto of front free end paper. Slight shelf (edge) wear to the dust jacket with an abrasion on the back panel.
