Previous owner's name stamped on the front free end paper - a Cistercian monastery. Merton had worked on these journals for publication in 1971. After his death in 1968, they were forgotten about until Naomi Burton Stone edited them for publication and she includes a preface to this volume. Very minor edge wear to the unclipped dust jacket.
