Author Name Maritain, Jacques Title Confession de Foi. Binding Softcover Book Condition Good+ Publisher New York, New York Editions De La Maison Francaise 1941 Seller ID 11448 8vo - 22 x 17 cm.; 42 - [6] pp. Ivory covers with a yap on the fore edge of the covers. Originally published by Simon and Schuster in 1939 as one of the reflections in "I Believe" - a collection edited by Clifton Fadiman and put together so as to provide ". . . a spiritual and intellectual last will and testament to our generation . . ." Rather humbling to read now. The essay is a faithful translation of the original English of 1939 with some minor additions. As to condition: the covers are soiled, the yapped fore edge is creased and the fore edge corners are splayed. Interior is clean. This edition was done at the behest of Maritain and was limited to 2000 copies done on a heavyweight cream paper (Midwood), this being copy #567 and printed by Albert Martin of New York.
