Written for the centenary of Charles' birth, Sheppard chronicles the dramatic life of this soldier, explorer, trappist monk, gardener, and for the last years of his life, a solitary living in the Sahara where he died a martyr's death on December 1st, 1916 in Tamanrasset. The last 2 chapters describe the subsequent accounts of his followers with the final chapter on the Little Brothers of Jesus. Previous owner's name plare (Redemptoristine Convent) on the front free end paper. The book itself shows mild shelf wear while the clipped dust jacket shows similar wear to the edges. The interior is clean and the binding is solid.
