Philomena is one of the survivors of the Shanghai persecution and left China for Hong Kong in 1978. From 1982 to 1999, she has written bits and pieces of her story and now presents it as a whole in this edition. From her time in a labour camp, being under house arrest with her family, her leaving and her subsequent life of evangelization and sharing her story. The September 8th editorial board is a group of Chinese Catholic youth of the 1950's who have come together from Canada, the USA, Australia, Hong Kong and Taiwan to write their stories and the history of the persecuted church of mainland China. They publish their work under the auspices of the Kuang-chi Press of Taiwan.
