8vo - 21.5 x 14 cm.; 364 pp. Dark red cloth with black lettering and embellishments on front board. A collection of Edith's writings previously published in "The Pilot", "The Times Literary Supplement" among others. Apparently a very outgoing and affable lady known for her charity, wit and freedom from vanity and egoism. Tissue protected frontis photo of her at age 25 and even in the stern pose showing a proper, formidable Victorian lady, the personality shows through in her eyes and the wry smile of which there is a hint. We come and go in this world but what are we remembered for? General though mild soiling to the externals with a 1/2" tear to the spine crown and the back hinge is a tad shaken. Hopefully we are not remembered for soiling and tears but perhaps for toiling and tears while we are all a bit shaken betimes. Well done Edith! A clear and removable archival cover has been fitted.
