Maintaining that priests should be men of culture, "a leader in the intellectual and moral world and to creditably fill that office he must be a churchman of the highest type . . . to make. . . such a leader in his calling is the aim of the author of these letters . . ." The letters are addressed to "My dear boy", young men in the seminary, giving advice as to how to become good priests and mature men. The spine is dulled and soiled, the boards show some edgewear and bumped corners, former owner's inscription on a preliminary blank page, minimal library markings, some discoloration on pages where newspaper clippings were laid in.
