First published in 1922, this is the second impression. Illustrated by author with line drawings, full page black-and-white renderings of trees and the frontis is in full colour. The boards are lightly rubbed with some edgewear and bumped corners; the text block edges are dust soiled with some minor foxing; front endpapers have a piece of birch bark and a colored picture of birch trees glued to them with a notation and the name of a former owner.
