Belloc Lowndes (1868-1947) was the sister of Hilaire Belloc and a prolific writer with some 60 published works including novels, plays and film scripts, the most well known of which is "The Lodger", published in 1913. This particluar book shows mild to moderate shelf wear and scuffing with rubbed corners and mildly worn spine tips. The front board shows two circular stains visible in reflected light. Previous owner's book plate (a cloistered convent) on the front free end paper, actually two bookplates with one pasted directly over the other. Otherwise the book is quite clean with a solid and sound binding. A clear and removable archival cover has been fitted. 18813
