8vo - 23 x 15 cm.; 64 pp of which pp. 41 to 64 are local and period advertising. Black linen cloth over boards with gold lettering and decorations on the front. The corners show very slight wear with the black cloth evenly and lightly faded and the text head edge is dust soiled whilst the spine is sunned. A letter M has been written in ink on the front paste down end paper. A history of St. Aloisius Church, a German parish in Bishop Creek, Illinois. The text, title page, dedication and lists are in German up to p. 32. English continues from there. The program for the Golden Jubilee Celebration is given in both languages on p. 40. A handsome volume with a clear and removable archival cover having been fitted. 17101

This book also includes short histories of the families that make up the parish. Most of the information came from personal interviews. Lots of photos. Profusely illustrated with many colour photographs along with reproductions of archival material. Mild wear to the cover edges and the spine has a reading crease. Constantine Scollen OMI and the founding of his first mission on the Elbow River. Previous owner's name blacked out on the copyright page (the verso of the title page). Otherwise the book is clean with a tight binding and showing only mild wear to the board corners and spine tips. The dust jacket is worn on the head edge with most of that to the spine crown and shows mild soiling and a scuffed back panel. 27398

Also illustrated with two black and white full page drawings; an architectural floor plan and the second, a map of the Diocese of Dublane with accompanying notes and legend on the facing page. Extensive notes with a comprehensive appendix and a decent index. Erratum slip pasted on page 75. Previous owner's name (a private Jesuit in-house library) stamped on the front end papers, otherwise the interior is clean with a sound binding. The externals show moderate wear and the spine is quite faded with the gilt titling still bright. 23197

Illustrated with several black and white photographs and three in colour. Rev. Cushing prepared this booklet after several visits to Gloucester and for at least one of which he was the principal celebrant during the "Blessing of the Fleet". Previous owner's stamp on the front cover and twice within the text on the page margins. The externals show mild wear with most of that to the yapped fore edges. The spine is faded, there is a partial ring stain on the front cover and the back cover is soiled. Aside from all of this the booklet is clean with a very sound binding. A clear and removable archival cover has been fitted. 28357
