Fo - 34 x 25 cm.; [6] - ix - [1] -77- [7] pp. Quarter bound with black cloth on spine over marbled paper on boards. The head edge of text block is gilt, fore and tail edges are untrimmed with deckled edges. This is number 311 of 1520 with signatures of the artist (Zhenya Gay) and the printer (B. H. Newdigate) on the limitation page. Seven page introduction by William Bolitho. Twelve lithographic plates printed from stone, with one being the frontis, comprise the illustrations. The text pages were printed by the Shakespeare Head Press of Oxford and the lithographs were printed by Vincent Brooks Day and Son of London. The text itself conforms to the original text as first published in The London Magazine in 1821 / 1822 with the footnotes restored. The fore edge corners, both front and back, are worn through the paper with the board edges showing very mild shelf wear. The back has two abrasions, one pea sized and the other dime size, where the marbled paper has been lost. The interior is very clean and the binding is solid and sound. The slip case is not present. 21507
