3 Kempis, Thomas a. The Imitation of Mary.
Westminster, Maryland. The Newman Press. 1948 Hard Cover Good+ with no dust jacket
8vo - 21.5 x 13.5 cm.; (10) - 114 pp. Light blue cloth over boards with gilt lettering on the spine. Adapted from the preface by Albin de Cigala: Thomas a Kempis never wrote this as a complete book. This is a compilation of various selections from his other works, selected and edited by Dr. Albin de Cogala, written in the same poetic and rhythmic languages as is the more well known "The Imitation of Christ". This present volume is arranged according to the mysteries of the life of Mary; joyous mysteries, sorrowful mysteries, glorious mysteries. The translation from the original French edition is done by a Dominican sister. This English edition was first published in 1948, this is the second printing from that same year. Black and white frontis piece is "Exaltavit Humiles" - Elizabeth greeting Mary. The library markings, none of which are external, are stamps on the front free end paper and the name also written on the title page, on the tail margin of the last page of text and faintly stamped on the fore and head edges of the text block. The book shows mild wear to the externals and aside from the mentioned markings, is clean and tight.; Ex-Library 26313
