Published in part by the Department of Mines and Resources, the Mines and Geology Branch and the National Museum of Canada, Special Contribution number 47-1. Profusely illustrated with many period black and white photographs. The paper used is a high quality coated stock allowing for good reproduction of the photos. Rather nice free end papers too, a polished and embossed drafting vellum with a spider-web design. Why spider webs? -'tis a mystery. The spine and adjacent cover margins are quite darkened and a hand lettered label (title and author quite neatly done) has been applied to the spine while the front cover has some sticker remnants on the top margin at the spine. In spite of this, the interior is very clean and the binding is solid. 20421

In 1962, the doctors of Saskatchewan staged a 23 day long withdrawal of services in response to the introduction of government sponsored Medicare. The authors look at the course of this strike and the events that led up to it, along with a broader consideration of the place of socialized medicine in a democratic state. Twenty five page list of sources and a 4 page index. Minor wear to the covers and the spine is a tad darkened, otherwise the book appears to have been used very little if at all. 27847
